Polish Presidency in the EUopportunities in trade and business development for the Pacific Northwest. the July 25 conference will be devoted to trade and business development between Poland and the Pacific Northwest. The event is a symbolic milestone in US-Polish-EU business relations as Poland assumed the Presidency of the EU on July 1, 2011. It will be hosted at the spectacular World Trade Center Seattle where business leaders come together to share ideas and strengthen connections. Gov. Gregoire’s husband Mike welcomed the participants. Speakers included Poland’s Ambassador Robert Kupiecki, Boeing VP Nicole Piasecki and Weyerhaueser CEO Daniel Fulton.

Mike Gregoire, Washington State First Gentleman. Mike Gregoire, Representing Gov. Christine Gregoire, will welcome Polish Ambassador Robert Kupiecki and guests to Washington State. Mr. Gregoire will read a congratulatory letter from Gov. Gregoire. Speaker’s bio. Letter from Gov. Gregoire

Robert Kupiecki, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States. His Excellency Ambassador Kupiecki will provide a global view of the emerging opportunities in US-Polish-EU business relations. He will speak about Poland’s leadership, innovation and goals as Poland begins its presidency of the EU. Speaker’s bio.

Nicole Piasecki, Vice President of Business development for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Ms. Piasecki will speak about Boeing’s experience in Poland since the fall of Communism. Boeing aircraft were the first Western-made planes in Eastern Europe purchased by Polish Airline LOT at the beginning of the economic transformation in the early 1990’s. Now 20 years later the Aviation Valley in Poland is booming. Poland is the first European country slated to receive the Dreamliner in April 2012. Speaker’s bio.

Ms. Piasecki will also reference to her recent trip to Poland where she attended the inauguration of an exhibit dedicated to her father, famous helicopter pioneer. About Ms. Piasecki’s visit to Polish aviation museum and about her legendary father, Frank Piasecki.

Pawel Pietrasienski, Minister-Counselor & Head of the Trade and Investment Section of the Polish Embassy in Washington, DC. Mr. Pietrasienski will provide insight of how the EU Presidency, strong consumer demand and consistent growth makes Poland an attractive country for business with the Pacific Northwest. A gateway to over 500 million consumers, with strong ties to the US and the EU, Poland is positioned favorably for cooperation in leading sectors as green energy, information technology, aviation, biotech and manufacturing. Eric Stewart, President of US-Poland Business Council. Eric Stewart will present corporate America’s view of the Polish Presidency in the EU and the opportunities/obstacles to increased commercial relations with Poland across key industries. Speaker’s bio.

Daniel S. Fulton, CEO of  Weyerhaeuser. Mr. Fulton will speak about his upcoming trip to Poland for an opening of a Weyerhaeuser Plant in Gdansk and about Weyerhaeuser’s business expansion in Poland. Speaker’s bio

Maciej Chorowski, President of Wroclaw Technology Park. Mr. Chorowski seeking partners and technologies for WTP’s 120 start-ups will lay a foundation for a Washington State trade mission to Wroclaw, Poland in 2012. He will introduce his park’s cutting-edge projects such as International Thermonuclear Experimental reactor. About Wroclaw Technology Park. Speaker’s bio.

Adam Januszko, Head of New Technologies Group Military Institute Of Engineer Technology in Wroclaw. Mr. Januszko will illustrate  Polish small business innovation and science-industry collaboration by giving an example of a multispectral camouflage developed by Litex-Lubawa-Miranda Textile Consortium for the Polish and US Armies. speaker’s bio.

The event on Monday July 25, 2011 was hosted by the Polish American Chamber of Commerce Pacific Northwest and the Embassy of Poland in Washington, DC. The program laid a foundation for polish-pacific northwest trade and business delegations in 2012. The Mission of the Polish American Chamber of Commerce Pacific Northwest is to facilitate cooperation and exchange between Polish and American businesses for economic success.
