Polish Presidency in the EUopportunities in trade and business development for the Pacific Northwest. the July 25 conference will be devoted to trade and business development between Poland and the Pacific Northwest. The event is a symbolic milestone in US-Polish-EU business relations as Poland assumed the Presidency of the EU on July 1, 2011. It will be hosted at the spectacular World Trade Center Seattle where business leaders come together to share ideas and strengthen connections. Gov. Gregoire’s husband Mike welcomed the participants. Speakers included Poland’s Ambassador Robert Kupiecki, Boeing VP Nicole Piasecki and Weyerhaueser CEO Daniel Fulton.

Geological consultant questions promise of cheap, abundant natural gas from shale

A geological consultant who is skeptical that shale gas will be a cheap and abundant supply of natural gas speaks this month at the University of Washington. Arthur Berman, of Labyrinth Consulting Services, will speak on Shale Gas: A View from the Bottom of the Resource Pyramid.

According to Berman, small amounts of high-quality resources that are cheap to extract are at the top of the resource pyramid and increasing amounts of lower-quality resources that cost more to extract are toward the bottom. (more…)
