Poland – US business relations continue to grow, creating new opportunities particularly in the areas of high tech industries. This program will explore Investment and Business Development landscape and showcase why Poland and especially Pomerania Region with its capital City of Gdańsk is an attractive partner in strategic areas of investment.
Representatives from Invest in Pomerania and InvestGDA will introduce key features of their region, particularly those related to talent pool, local market and business environment. Also CEO’s of Polish high tech businesses will briefly introduce their activity, products and vision for future cooperation with the US.
The program will include 60 minutes of presentations, followed by Q&A and discussion. A reception and networking will follow.
Mieczyslaw Struk – Governor of Pomerania Region
Mieczysław Struk has been a Governor of the Pomeranian Region since 2010 and is responsible mainly for economic issues, infrastructure and EU programs. During his term he initiated and implemented numerous ecological investment projects in the Hel Peninsula and around the Puck Bay (water management infrastructure, bicycle paths, networks of marinas, etc). Being a Kashubian (member of Kashubian ethnic minority) he has been involved in supporting and promoting Kashubian culture and Baltic fishing industry. He is a great supporter of attracting foreign businesses to Pomerania Region.
Paweł Adamowicz – Mayor of Gdansk
Paweł Adamowicz is in his third term as Mayor of Gdansk. He was first voted in by the city council in 1994 and, at the time, was the youngest mayor of a major city in Poland. For the second term, in 2002 elections, he received over 70 percent of the vote against an SLD contender. The main focus of Adamowicz’s tenure has been to revitalize Gdansk, both economically and in terms of prestige. He has been generally supportive of the Synergia project to redevelop land formerly belonging to the Gdansk Shipyard and organized a major celebration around this project.
Alan Aleksandrowicz – CEO Gdansk Economic Development Agency InvestGDA
Alan Aleksandrowicz manages the Gdansk Economic Development Agency Ltd., since it was established by the City of Gdansk to attract and support foreign direct investments. He is a member of supervisory boards of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and Gdansk Entrepreneurship Foundation. His main areas of expertise are infrastructural and foreign direct investments as well public-private partnership projects. Alan was the Head of the Investment Service Center at the City Hall of Gdansk. He also served in the Foreign Service as Vice Consul in charge of legal department at the Consulate General of Poland in Chicago, USA (1999-2003). He held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Civic and Foreigners Affairs (Immigration Service) at the Pomeranian Governor Office (1998-1999).
Marcin Piatkowski – Director, FDI Department, Invest in Pomerania
As the Director of Invest in Pomerania. Marcin Piatkowski has been working with the economic promotion of the region and foreign direct investment for the last 5 years. He is directly responsible for providing information services to foreign investors, support during site selection stage and after care to businesses located in Pomerania Region. During his every day work he cooperates with companies such as International Paper, First Data, Sony Pictures or Thomson Reuters.
